MASTERS
IP MAN

Yip Man (1893–1972) is one of the most significant martial artists in the history of Wing Chun, a Southern Chinese martial art commonly referred to for its simplicity, effectiveness, and precision. Yip Man was born in Foshan, China, where he began to learn Wing Chun, and later moved to Hong Kong, where he taught the martial system. He devoted his life to the preservation and transmission of Wing Chun in its original principles of structure, relaxation, and the intelligent use of energy rather than force. He took a vigorous yet humble approach to his teaching and produced generations of Wing Chun practitioners who exhibited not only technical skills but also martial arts respect and ethics. His overall influence as a martial artist was magnified by the various films depicting his life and evolution as a martial artist. His greatest contributions and influence were as a teacher and mentor who guided many young students, especially Bruce Lee, over a period of almost sixty years, and his dedicated commitment to his own martial art form, which made him an important part of modern martial arts history.
CHU SHONG TIN
JIM FUNG

Chu Shong Tin (1933–2014) was arguably one of Yip Man's most devoted and proficient disciples and had a great level of regard in the Wing Chun community, particularly with his deep understanding of Wing Chun's internal energy and structure. Chu Shing Tin trained with Yip Man from notably the very beginning of Yip Man's time in Hong Kong and was known as "The King of Siu Nim Tau" for his unique capabilities in the art's first and most important form. He was known for his calm demeanour, refined technique, and incredible ability to create large amounts of power with very little effort. His unique approach to Wing Chun martial arts has inspired many students around the world. Though out of the public eye.
Unlike some of his contemporaries, Chu Shing Tin's quiet mastery and dedication to Yip Man's teachings for life have allowed students to learn Yip Man's Wing Chun while passing it on as simply and fully as possible with the utmost clarity and integrity and respectful observation of traditions.

Jim Fung (1944–2007) was the leading disciple of Chu Shong Tin and a key figure in the promotion of genuine Wing Chun to a worldwide community. Born in Hong Kong and later moving to Australia, he established the International Wing Chun Academy in 1973 and devoted the rest of his life to preserving and sharing the authentic teachings of his master. Jim Fung was recognised for his care and precision, discipline, and focus on correct structure and relaxation when training his students. Jim Fung positively affected thousands of students across multiple generations and had particular success in fostering an appreciation of Wing Chun's efficacy and practicality. Jim Fung taught Wing Chun to many people, including all of those in his studios, public demonstrations, seminars, and books, and became a respected ambassador of Wing Chun. Edwin Ng, Chun Shong Tin's student and Jim Fung's student, represents the lineage of Yip Man and Chu Shong Tin with integrity and respect around the world.
